Serving as both a CD release and farewell show, Pee-Pee took the stage one last time Saturday night at the Mercury Cafe.  This performance revealed a relaxed, unhurried version of the band, quite different than cacophonies of the past.  Here’s to the best of luck for Doo Crowder on his upcoming journeys.

A good crowd had arrived at the Hornet when UMS 2010 started, and Chella Negro rewarded early arrivals with a great performance.  The Dead Babies of Coronado put a great country spin on songs I’d previously only seen played solo.  Those who stayed for the entire set were treated to Josh Trinidad playing trumpet on Consume.

I’d honestly never heard of Bob Log III prior to this Larimer (sans) BBQ show, and was completely floored by the energy one man could muster out of an early Sunday-evening crowd.  While I still prefer the songwriting of other contemporaries such as Scott H. Biram or William Elliott Whitmore, Bob bests them all in stage antics, crowd interaction, and debauchery.

Speakeasy Tiger appear to have fractured for the second time this year, but here’s a throwback to the old days with Kyle Simmons fronting the group.  This was the Meadowlark show where rain destroyed much of the PA system, so most sound is in the right channel.  Constant rain also added a unique vibe of the evening, resulting in a show noteworthy enough to post despite the technical problems.

Edmonton DIY kings Gobble Gobble are currently in the midst of their Mobile Rave Infinitour, which would put the schedules of any other artist to shame.  They stopped in Colorado for a few days this month, including a house party with Woodsman.   These guys really know how to put on a party…even the most humble house show was approached with costumes, puppets, and a large conglomeration of toys/noisemakers.   If you live in North America, chance are Gobble Gobble will be visiting a city near you before Thanksgiving.  If you can’t make it to see them in person, check out the band’s releases available on Royal Rhino Flying Records.
