Vitamins – 9.01.2010 @ Hi-Dive

Vitamins were lying low for most of the summer, but returned in August and September with plenty of new jams.  All but two of the tracks below are unreleased!  The band’s last studio EP, Songs For Stem Cells, can be downloaded from Amazon and iTunes, or picked up in physical form at Twist and Shout.

Vibes on Velvet – 7.22.2010 @ The UMS

With the vibes relocated to Minnesota, Vibes on Velvet performances have become understandably rare.  Megan Wise was back in Denver during The UMS, and brought out her vibes to join Tony Asnicar (guitar) and Susan Phelan (bass) in offering up a unique brand of western jazz.

Safe Boating is No Accident – 9.03.2010 @ Hi-Dive

Of the four CD releases in Denver on this particular night, I was only able to capture the Safe Boating is No Accident show.  Filled with therapy, conspiracy theories, (staged) fights and more, this show was quite a spectacle!  The band invited Yuzo Nieto (Pink Hawks, Pee-Pee) to play saxophone on several songs, and finished out the night with a nod to Pee-Pee, who would be playing their last show on the following night.

Lilly Scott and Cole Rudy – 9.05.2010 @ Oriental Theater

Here’s a great sounding set from Lilly Scott and Cole Rudy (a.k.a. Big Lil’), who opened for Ben Sollee at the Oriental Theater last weekend.  This show was very well attended–hopefully this leads to more frequent shows being booked at the Oriental.

Pee-Pee – 9.04.2010 @ Mercury Cafe

Serving as both a CD release and farewell show, Pee-Pee took the stage one last time Saturday night at the Mercury Cafe.  This performance revealed a relaxed, unhurried version of the band, quite different than cacophonies of the past.  Here’s to the best of luck for Doo Crowder on his upcoming journeys.
